The Winston-Salem Community Connector is a visionary and transformative bicycle and pedestrian project to move our community into the future while reconnecting to the past. This project will greatly enhance transportation and mobility options, create employment opportunities, support environmental health and fundamentally improve our city as a place to live, work, and visit.

Foundational Studies and Planning Documents
- Downtown Master Plan

The Winston-Salem Downtown Plan was adopted by City Council and the City-County Planning Board in 2013. It will guide future public policy decisions and includes recommendations for several districts, such as the Arts District, Theater District, Twin City Quarter, and the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, in addition to the topical areas of economic investment, vibrancy, mobility, and public investment.
- Legacy 2030: The Comprehensive Plan

Legacy 2030 is the Comprehensive Plan for Winston-Salem, Forsyth County and all its municipalities. Legacy 2030 has twice been recognized nationally by the American Planning Association. The plan was honored with the 2014 Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan, and in 2013 the plan's outreach efforts earned the City-County Planning Department a National Planning Achievement Award.
- Comprehensive Transportation Plan

The 2012 Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) includes: Project recommendations and problem statements Five maps - Adoption Sheet, Highway Map, Public Transportation & Rail Map, Bicycle Map, and Pedestrian Map Highway table containing information such as road width, right-of-way width, traffic volumes and capacities, and the presence of transit and bicycle facilities.
- 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan
The Winston-Salem Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has developed the Draft 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), the Draft Air Quality Conformity Analysis Report, and the Draft Fiscal Years 2016-2025 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP). The plan includes an overview of the Piedmont Triad region; all modes of transportation, freight considerations, human and natural environment factors, and a fiscally constrained funding schedule for project implementation.

- Winston Salem Urban Circulator Plan

The City of Winston-Salem is considering the possibility of implementing an urban circulator, possibly a streetcar or enhanced bus service, connecting Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods to each other and the region.
- Greenway Plan Update
This Greenway Plan Update continues the efforts and expands on the recommendations laid out in the 2002 Plan. The Update provides a prioritized system of proposed greenways for construction over the next 10 to 15 years. Connectivity, constructability, and evidence of public support were used to prioritize proposed greenways for future construction.
