Emergency Management - April 2, 2019
The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management is offering a basic training course for community emergency response teams May 3-5 at the Griffith Fire Department, 5190 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem.
CERT members are trained to take care of themselves and help others in their communities for the first three days following a disaster in the event that emergency responders are overwhelmed or unable to reach a neighborhood.
Training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and consists of classroom and hands-on training. Topics will include disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, and terrorism and CERT. Student materials will be provided. The training is free, but participants must commit to attending all classes. Participants who complete the course will be invited, but not required, to join a local community team.
Participation is limited to the first 25 qualified registrants. Forsyth County residents will have first priority.
A registration form and more information is available at ReadyForsyth.org, or call CityLink 311.
