Human Relations - Feb. 20, 2019
A student from each public school in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, as well as from some private schools, will be honored Feb. 28 during the 39th annual Human Relations Student Awards Banquet.
The Human Relations Commission partners with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools to hold the banquet, which honors students who exemplify positive human relations in their dealings with others on such issues as race, religion and cultural differences.
The speaker at this year's banquet will be Alfreda Smith, the principal at Northwest Middle School and the 2018 Principal of the Year for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Entertainment will be provided by the Easton Elementary African Drummers and the Griffith Elementary Performing Arts Ensemble.
The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites hotel, 460 N. Cherry St. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the City of Winston-Salem Revenue Department, 100 E. First Street, Suite 121. Tickets must be purchased before 5 p.m. on Feb. 25. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
