The Winston-Salem Police Department is requesting public comment regarding the 2018 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, which is administered by the US Department of Justice.
The City of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County law enforcement agencies are eligible to share $182,029 in 2018 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds. These agencies have been designated as a disparate jurisdiction and have agreed to each share 50% of the grant award ($91,014.50 to each agency). Funds must be used for law enforcement purposes. The City of Winston-Salem will serve as fiscal agent for the grant.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is proposing to use its share of grant award funding to purchase a new case management system for civil executions.
The Winston-Salem Police Department is proposing to use its share of grant award funding to purchase a three-dimensional scanner for crime scene documentation.
The Winston-Salem City Council will vote on the proposed use of funds by the Police Department on August 20, 2018.
