Winston-Salem / Forsyth County Utilities provides high-quality water, sewer and solid waste services through responsible use of resources, reliable delivery and stewardship of the environment. Administrative offices are located in Winston-Salem City Hall with management by the City/County Utilities Commission, formed by a joint consolidation agreement in 1976.

Extended Hours at Hanes Mill Road Landfill Saturday, Dec. 15

Hanes Mill Road Landfill has extended hours on Saturday, Dec. 15 opening at 8 a.m. and closing at 4 p.m. to accommodate sanitation crews making up for collections that were missed because of the winter storm. The landfill will be open to the public during the extended hours. Overdale Road Yard Waste Facility will be open regular hours (8 a.m. - Noon) on Saturday, Dec. 15. Monthly CCUC Meeting Cancelled

Due to inclement weather, the City/County Utility Commission's regular meeting scheduled on Monday, December 10, 2018 has been cancelled.

There will be no December meeting.

Winter Weather Preparedness

As temperatures drop, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities is urging customers to prepare their homes, especially pipes for colder weather.

System Development Fees

On July 20, 2017, the North Carolina General Assembly adopted an act to provide for uniform authority to implement system development fees for public water and sewer systems throughout the state. House Bill 436 amended Chapter 162A of the General Statutes, adding "Article 8, System Development Fees" to define requirements for implementing water and sewer system development fees for local government units.

On June 11, 2018, the City/County Utility Commission (CCUC) approved new Water and Sewer System Development Fees, effective January 1, 2019. Fees will be determined by meter size per the following schedule:
