Economic Stimulus Package

If Congress passes an economic stimulus package that includes public works projects, the City of Winston-Salem will be ready to help.

The city has identified 81 projects that might qualify for money in the stimulus package that Congress will consider after President Obama takes office. The list includes 37 projects that are ready to break ground immediately. Forty-four other projects are well into the planning stage and could be ready to break ground by the time any stimulus money arrives. Most of the projects are drawn from the city’s capital improvements plan.

If the city were to receive any money for economic stimulus projects, the City Council would decide which projects to fund.
