One of the nation's deadliest weather phenomena is lightning. It strikes all year long, but Summer is the peak season. Lightning is one of the most deadly and damaging types of weather we face in North Carolina, and it typically does not receive enough attention.

An average of 62 people are killed each year by lightning. Eight people have already died this year due to lightning strikes.
There are many symptoms one suffers from being struck by lightning. Some of them are debilitating and include long-term effects which include memory loss, attention deficits, sleep disorders, numbness, dizziness, stiffness in joints, irritability, fatigue, weakness, muscle spasms, depression, and an inability to sit for long.
