FIRE MAINTENANCE SHOP

The fire department operates its own fire apparatus maintenance shop.  The shop is located in District Two and resides next to Mechanics working beneath fire truckFire Station #5. Staffed by two very resourceful employees, the fire maintenance shop is responsible for maintaining and repairing all of the fire engine and truck companies in the fire department fleet. Using a specialized software Mechanic entering data on computerapplication, shop personnel document fire apparatus maintenance, repairs, and pump testing.  All fire department pumps are tested annually in accordance with standards such as NFPA1911.  These individuals also write the specifications for all new equipment.
