Housing Production

Assistance in the construction of new housing units by the City is principally construction of single-family units for home ownership, as ownership is viewed as essential to neighborhood stabilization. The assistance provided by the City to facilitate production of newly constructed units is principally focused on single-family units for home ownership, as home ownership is so essential to neighborhood stabilization. The City provides subordinate, permanent financing in tandem with privately financed first mortgages.

Although the focus of production is on home ownership units, assistance is also provided for the construction of affordable rental housing and rental housing to meet the needs of populations with special housing needs;  for example, the elderly and physically disabled.
