The Vegetation Management Division is part of the Recreation and Parks Department. Its 67 full-time employees provide a safe and beautiful environment for city residents and visitors by maintaining all landscaping, planting beds, turf, shrubs, and trees along roads and in parks and other public land.

A vegetation maintenance worker performs such duties as planting bulbs, shrubs, trees, trimming and pruning, mulching, mowing and weeding. The job requires manual labor, an occasionally requires work to be conducted in poor weather conditions. You must be able to lift 50 pounds. To get this job you must have a North Carolina driver’s license and some knowledge of how to use commercial mowing equipment. This job is eligible for overtime pay.
