Fuel Spill Cleanup Update

Efforts to remove traces of diesel fuel from Bowen Branch Creek will
continue this week. Representatives from Stormwater, N.C. Department of
Environmental and Natural Resources, Waste Management and Shamrock
Environmental inspected the creek on Monday. While they did find lower
levels of diesel fuel, it was not enough to end the clean up efforts.
They will continue to inspect the area daily to determine if more work
is needed.

The cleanup has operated around the clock since August 17 after 7,500
gallons of diesel fuel leaked from an underground pipe that serves a
fueling station for Waste Management Inc. at 3303 N. Glenn Ave.
