Big Sweep Seeks Volunteers to Clean Local Waterways Oct. 6

It’s not too early to sign up to participate in this year’s Big Sweep Waterway Cleanup in Forsyth County, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Last year nearly 3,000 volunteers participated in the annual clean-up of local lakes and streams.
Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful plans to target more than 30 sites, including Peters Creek, Silas Creek, Salem Creek, Monarcas Creek, Mill Creek, Tanner’s Run, Salem Lake and the Yadkin River.
This year’s Big Sweep in Forsyth County is being sponsored by First Citizens Bank, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, Whole Foods Market, ReynoldsAmerican, Waste Management, Krispy Kreme, Winston-Salem Stormwater Management, Liberty Lincoln Mercury, Prudential Carolinas Realty, and McLain, Steedle, Chermak & Hanson Orthodontics.
