First Street Closing for Traffic Island Installation

First Street, between Spruce Street and Shady Boulevard, will be closed nightly the week of Aug. 20 to install a permanent traffic island in place of the temporary island that has been in place since 2002.

The street will be closed to all traffic each night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday evening, Aug. 20, through Saturday morning, Aug. 25. A detour will be set up when the street is closed. During the day one lane will be open to traffic. For more information, call 727-2789.
