Human Relations Cosponsoring Inaugural Global Festival

A free festival spotlighting Ethiopian culture will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, as the first in a series of mini-festivals the Human Relations Department is organizing with the help of local partners.
Global Festival Series: Focus on Ethiopia will be held in Diggs Gallery on the campus of Winston-Salem State University from noon until 3 p.m. The festival being held in conjunction with the arts exhibition, "Continuity and Change: Three Generations of Ethiopian Artists." The exhibition features modern and contemporary art within the context of the political and social upheavals of 20th century Ethiopia.
Global Festival Series: Focus on Ethiopia will provide hands-on exposure to Ethiopian arts, crafts, foods, clothing and music. The festival will feature a fashion show of traditional Ethiopian clothing, jewelry and shoes. Arts and crafts projects will be available for children ages 5 through 12. There will also be an opportunity to pose cultural questions to leaders and representatives from the Ethiopian community in the Triad.
