Task Force To Examine Youth Issues

The city of Winston-Salem is seeking participants for a task force that will address issues affecting Winston-Salem youth.
The Winston-Salem Youth Task Force will hold its first meeting Thursday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber. Dr. Vivian H. Burke, Mayor Pro Tempore, Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee, and Council Member representing the Northeast Ward, will open the meeting with a statement of the challenges facing youth and discuss the mission and goals of the task force. Presentations by the Winston-Salem Police Department gang unit, the Center for Community Safety, the Human Relations Department, and Recreation and Parks Youth Advisory Council will be shared with the community.
Adults, youth and community and faith-based organizations interested in the welfare of youth in Winston-Salem are invited to attend and share their concerns and ideas regarding entertainment, outreach, graffiti, crime, peer pressure and gangs. Information gathered at the meeting will be used to establish an agenda for future meetings of the task force. Additional information will be available at the meeting.
