Volunteers Needed for Rock the Block

Marketing & Communications - Sept. 13, 2007
Contact: Jennifer John, 727-2317

The organizers of Rock the Block, the city’s annual end-of-summer downtown street extravaganza, still need volunteers to help staff the event, scheduled for Friday evening, Sept. 21. The festival will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 11 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help set up and to help tear down before and after the event. During the festival, volunteers are needed to staff the children’s area, assist food vendors, sell "Rock the Block" merchandise, staff information kiosks, staff beverage stands, and assist at the painting wall, the mechanical bull, and the children’s area. All volunteers will receive a free "Rock the Block Volunteer" T-shirt and an invitation to the volunteer party in October at the Mellow Mushroom.

People interested in volunteering can sign up online with the Volunteer for Rock the Block form.

For more information call 727-2317.

Rock the Block is an initiative of the city of Winston-Salem and the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership, and is being sponsored this year by Hanesbrands Inc., ReynoldsAmerican, Foothills Brewing, GMAC, Mechanics and Farmers Bank, and the Mellow Mushroom.
