Community Roots Day, Great Winston-Salem Cleanup Seek Volunteers

The Community Appearance Commission, Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful, and the city of Winston-Salem are seeking volunteers to help plant 400 trees in the Maple Street neighborhood south of Hanes Middle School on Saturday, April 12, during the 16th Annual Community Roots Day.

At least 500 volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to noon. The first 500 volunteers will receive free t-shirts and hats and all volunteers get free lunch and seedlings. Volunteers will meet at the shelter at Blum Park at 25th Street and Ivy Avenue. Come on out and help beautify our community!

Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful is also accepting sign-ups to participate in the Great Winston-Salem Cleanup, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help clean up local roadways, parks and schools. All supplies are provided as well as lunch.

The Great Winston-Salem Cleanup is organized by Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful and is part of the national Great American Cleanup organized by Keep America Beautiful.
