Sister Cities Winston-Salem Sponsors Relief Fund Drive for China

Sister Cities Winston-Salem will hold a fund-drive kickoff party Friday, July 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the World Exchange, 420 N. Cherry St. to raise money to assist the earthquake victims in Sichuan Province, China.

The earthquake killed more than 69,000 people and injured more than 370,000. More than a million people have been displaced by the earthquake. Money for the victims will be sent to the Yangpu Foreign Affairs Office in Shanghai, Winston-Salem’s sister city in China, for distribution to the victims.

The fund drive will run through Aug. 31. Donations can be made by cash, check or credit card at any branch of TriStone Community Bank. Checks should be made out to the Sichuan Sister City Relief Fund. For more information, call Ruben Gonzales at 747-7474.
