Utilities Division Smoke-Testing Sewer Lines in Ardmore Neighborhood

A contractor for the City-County Utilities Division is using smoke to test sewer lines in the Ardmore neighborhood for leaks and illegal connections.

The testing began today and could last into January. The contractor seals a portion of a sewer line and inserts a smoke canister. Smoke will be seen coming from manhole covers when the pipe is unsealed after the test.

A crew is going door to door notifying residents before starting tests in each block.
