"The MIX" at Hanes Hosiery Debuts This Friday

Music, video games, sports and more will be offered on Friday nights this summer at "The MIX," a free summer entertainment program for teens 13 - 18 at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center, June 6 through Aug. 15, except for Friday, July 4.

The MIX is being sponsored by the Youth Task Force to give Winston-Salem teenagers a safe place to gather on Friday nights. The task force was created by Council Member Vivian H. Burke and is supported by the staff of the city’s Recreation and Parks Department and Marketing and Communications Department.

All participants will receive a MIX photo ID and must have their parent’s or guardian’s permission to participate. For the inaugural MIX this Friday, teens will be admitted at the door and receive a registration form to fill out for their next visit.

Registration forms are also available at all recreation centers and online.

MIX activities for this Friday will include music, X-Box 360, Wii and Dance Revolution video games, an open arts studio and computer lab, an open mic night and a concession stand with pizza and other snacks. MIX organizers want teens to give their feedback on adding other activities.
