Boundaries of the Study Area
The Southeast Suburban Planning Area, shown on the map to the left, is bounded on the north by Business I-40, on the east by the Town of Kernersville and the boundary of the Union Cross Planning Area, on the south by Thomasville Road and the County Line, and on the west by I-40 and the boundary of the Southeast Planning Area. The Planning Area has land in two City Council Wards, the East and Southeast Wards. The Planning Area is within the City's and County's zoning and planning jurisdiction. |
Staff for the Southeast Area Plan
A Project Planner with the City-County Planning Department is directly responsible for the development of each individual Area Plan, and is assisted by members of other City and County departments. An Interdepartmental Committee from various City and County departments also is formed to give input into the process and reviews the final recommendations.
Visioning Process
The Visioning Process is an opportunity for staff to receive initial input from all residents on how they perceive their neighborhood issues, problems, and opportunities. At the meeting, staff asks citizens to discuss what they like about their neighborhood, what they think needs improvement and most importantly, what they want their community to look like in the future. The future vision developed at the meeting serves as the basis for recommendations included in the Area Plan. The Visioning meeting for the Southwest Area Plan was held on on January 15, 2009.
Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Southeast Suburban Planning Area
|
Citizen participation is a critical part of the Area Plan process. A Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) is set up for each plan to work with staff throughout the planning process. The CAC includes a variety of people concerned about the Planning Area including residents, merchants, business people, property owners, and representatives of institutions or organizations.
