Be a Part of Community Roots Day
Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., Blum Park, near Hanes Middle School
"Community Roots Day” is a volunteer tree-planting event that takes place every spring, adding shade, fresh air and extra character to our neighborhoods. In the past fifteen years, over 4000 trees have been planted on streets throughout Winston-Salem.
 |
Community Roots day is sponsored by the Community Appearance Commission, Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful, and the City of Winston-Salem Vegetation Management Department, and is only possible through donations from businesses and individuals. |
|
In order to make this great even happen, we will need lots of volunteers to plant trees! The first 300 volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and a hat. Lunch and doughnuts will be provided to all who help. Tree seedlings will be provided, but volunteers are asked to please bring their own shovels, if they have one. |
 |
If you are interested in getting involved in Community Roots Day, please contact George or Kittie at Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful at 727-8013 or e-mail to: georges@cityofws.org.
Winston-Salem has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Foundation for the eighth consecutive year. View the article about this achievement.
Community Roots Day and the efforts of the community and sponsors of this event contribute a great deal to this distinctive designation. The Community Appearance Commission and the City-County Planning Board staff applaud our citizens for their dedication and hard work.
