Resolution Presentation

Forsyth County Board of Commissioners
Come and hear the Historic Preservation Month Resolution read by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and received by the Historic Resources Commission.   The County Commissioners meet at 7:30 pm at the Forsyth County Government Center located at 201 N. Chestnut Street.  The meeting will be held in the County Commissioners Meeting Room on the fifth floor.

Clemmons Village Council
Come and hear the Historic Preservation Month Resolution read by the Clemmons Village Council and received by the Historic Resources Commission.  The Village Council meets at 7:00 pm at Village Hall located at 3715 Clemmons Road.

2008 Heritage Awards

On May 7, 2008, the Forsyth County Historic Resources Commission will hold the 2008 Heritage Awards. The awards will recognize outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in historic preservation by individuals, organizations, or businesses active in the preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or interpretation of the county’s architectural, cultural, or natural heritage.  All the award recipients and nominees have made a large impact, in their local neighborhoods and the greater community. Their contributions, whether restoring a piece of architectural history or personal/group achievements, assist in promoting and leading the community in the field of preservation.

Historic Resources Commission Meeting
Come and see the Historic Resources Commission in action. The meeting will be held in the Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building, 100 E. First Street, Winston-Salem, Fifth Floor Public Meeting Room at 4:00 pm.

Maynard Field Historic Marker Unveiling

The Forsyth County Historic Resources Commission will unveil a new City historic marker Sunday, May 18, 2008 near the site of the former Maynard Field located off of Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem.

The marker will be unveiled during a ceremony at 3:00 p.m. in observance of Historic Preservation Month.

Entire Month of May

Visit the Central Library, located at 660 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem and view the preservation display about bridges and Maynard Field. The displays will be in the cases located in the Main Lobby and in front of the North Carolina Room.
