UDO (Unified Development Ordinances)

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Unified Development Ordinances (UDO) are the compilation of regulations that govern land use, which include the Zoning Ordinance, the Environmental Ordinance, and the Subdivision Ordinance/Regulations.

The UDO has been designed to be "user friendly," by organizing information in a logical sequence, using language that is understandable, providing illustrations, including a detailed index, and using a print style that is easy to read.

Municipal Code Corporation maintains and updates our UDO. It is available as a searchable document on the Municipal Code Corporation web site. See also, instructions on how to navigate to the Permitted Use Table.

Note: Recent amendments to the UDO may or may not be reflected in the code currently available online. UDO amendments which were heard or are soon to be heard by the Planning Board can be found in the UDO Amendments section below.

We hope you are able to find the information you need and find this document useable. However, if you still have questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to call the Design and Development Review Team of the City-County Planning Board at 336-727-8000. We're here to help you!
