CRIMESTOPPERS is a unique program that brings together business, law enforcement and ordinary citizens to fight crime and make our community safer. Through CRIMESTOPPERS, local newspapers, radio and television stations publicize unsolved crimes. Citizens who know information are encouraged to call 727-2800. Confidentiality is assured by assigning callers a code number instead of asking for their name. This code number is then used for all dealings with the caller.

If the information from a caller leads to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or the seizure of illegal drugs, the caller is eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.00. Local businesses and individuals participate by making tax-free contributions to CRIMESTOPPERS. No tax dollars are used to pay cash rewards. CRIMESTOPPERS is administered by a volunteer board of directors who are assisted by a trained coordinator in the Winston-Salem Police Department.
