The Traffic Enforcement Unit is made up of marked Police motorcycles and non-traditional unmarked vehicles. This unit is responsible for the enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances. Specific duties include the investigation of accidents, traffic fatality investigations, operation of surveillance equipment, monitoring high accident locations to reduce unlawful driving behavior, and assignment to special events in the city. The unit is also involved in all campaigns sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Transportation Governor's Highway Safety Program.
