Incident Description
Detective Willard succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained four days earlier during a shootout with a suspect on Foster Street.

Detective Willard was shot while attempting to arrest the suspect on gambling charges.  Willard received a .45 slug in his stomach and another in his kidney.  The suspect was shot and killed by Detective Willard during the shootout.

Detective Willard was survived by his wife, daughter, and two sons.
