Sustainability is up to all of us.

What you can do to help...

  • Recycle all goods that are accepted in our recycling program.
  • Recycle computers (take to Goodwill).
  • Recycle ink jet cartridges, cell phones (pick up mailers at the Stuart Building lobby or call 727-8153).
  • Dispose of hazardous waste properly. 3RC [pdf]
  • CFL bulbs are great for saving energy, but don't dispose of them in the trash - recycle them!
  • Combine trips to save gas.
  • Take public transportation.
  • Ride a bike or walk instead of driving.
  • When building or remodeling your home, use energy-efficient and eco-friendly products.
  • Take steps to properly insulate your home.
  • Use eco-friendly products for cleaning in your home.
  • Purchase goods from businesses that use organic, sustainable-growth practices.
  • Purchase goods made or grown locally.
  • Reduce the waste you generate!
  • Buy items with less packaging (which is usually thrown into the landfill).
  • Buy items made with recycled materials.
  • Print double-sided on your home printer and at work to save paper.
  • Hang out clothes to dry in the sun.
  • Use the microwave instead of the stove when possible.
  • When you are waiting to pick you child up from school (or waiting in any other situation), do not let your engine idle. By stopping your engine, you are saving emissions (twice as much emissions when stopped as when the car is moving), saving gasoline, and saving on oil.
