Practical Play
As the economy slows and the price for food and gas continues to soar, it is pretty clear that our extra dollars for leisure and entertainment aren’t stretching quite as far as they used to.
Despite the fact the fact that money is tight, recreation and parks is becoming a hot commodity, since chances are pretty good that we are providing the most affordable entertainment in town.
There’s no secret why recreation and parks remains so popular during these challenging financial times. We offer the same services as other popular sports and recreation facilities for far less and we’re local. Most of our facilities are just right around the corner.
Our department has gone to great lengths to provide reasonable recreation opportunities, because we want the entire family to be able to enjoy healthy activities. Over the past several years our recreation centers and special use facilities have been very proactive at planning programs that are affordable, and this fall is no exception. We have a great line up of activities that are sure to satisfy your entertainment needs.
For instance, bring the entire family out to Old Town Recreation Center where we offer martial arts lessons for kids and adults for only $4 per class. Then, spice up your evenings with free salsa lessons at Little Creek Recreation Center.
The Special Populations Unit also has great deals for our senior citizens. If you are over 55, stop in and get a senior citizen card for only 35 cents. The senior card provides lots of discounts for seniors throughout the city. As an example, you’ll get a 10 percent discount on the aerobic dance class at South Fork Recreation Center. You’ll also enjoy discounts on bus fares with the Winston-Salem Transit Authority.
In addition to these deals, we also offer special pricing at Winston Lake Golf Course, Salem Lake, Joe White Tennis Center and Historic Bethabara Park.
