Martin Luther King, Jr. Extension Feasibility Study CoverMartin Luther King, Jr. Drive Extension Feasibility Study

The final Feasibility Study for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Extension has been completed. This road is identified on the Winston-Salem Urban Area Comprehensive Transportation Plan and Thoroughfare Plan. It is currently a multi-lane arterial that ends at Trade Street. Beyond Trade Street, the road converts to a two-lane arterial (8th Street). This feasibility study examines the possibility of extending Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive to the west from Trade Street and Cherry/Marshall Streets to Broad Street.

This planning study examines environmental features, development patterns, travel patterns, traffic volumes within the study area, and considers public comment to assist in developing alignment alternatives.
