Research Parkway Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

This is a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Administrative Action, Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

The FHWA has determined this project will have no significant impact on the human or natural environment. This Finding of No Significant Impact is based on the November 2, 2009 Environmental Assessment (EA), which was evaluated by FHWA and determined to adequately and accurately discuss the need, environmental issues and impacts of the proposed project. The EA provides sufficient evidence and analysis for determining that an Environmental Impact Statement is not required. The FHWA takes full responsibility for the accuracy, scope and content of the EA.

The proposed project involves the construction of a new, four-lane roadway from Stadium Drive to Third Street partially within a former railroad corridor southeast of downtown Winston-Salem.

The purpose of the project is to improve connectivity and access to property between Stadium Drive and Third Street near the downtown Winston-Salem Central Business District (CBD).
