Woodland Cemetery

Woodland Cemetery, the older of the two cemeteries, is located on a 30-acre plot at the intersection of Reynolds Boulevard and Indiana Avenue on the north side of the city. Its oldest graves date back to the mid 1890’s. The cemetery streets are lined with mature oaks and maples.




The open-air chapel is often used for committal services. A visitor to the cemetery will notice the simplicity of some single grave markers compared to the ornate grandeur of some monuments marking larger family plots. The Cemetery Division began a major maintenance program at Woodland in 1997 to address aging and deteriorating monuments and walls within the cemetery. Woodland remains a tranquil, picturesque property located in the shadows of downtown Winston-Salem.
