Data Sets for Download

Geographic Information Systems data (information) of City of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County is considered public records and standard GIS information is provided free of charge for download in shape file (.shp), Mr. Sid (image compressed file format), or data exchange (.dxf) formats as listed below.  The format of the data is based upon its most frequently requested format.

Datum. Data sets are in North Carolina State Plane coordinate system, North American Datum (NAD) 83, units in feet.   

Custom Requests. Due to staff shortages as a result of a hiring freeze, the ability to fulfill custom requests will be extremely limited. However, the City of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County will provide digital copies of existing data in its native format to noncommercial requestors, charging for media and personnel time.  Conversion to another format will be considered a custom request will not be undertaken. See Custom Requests page to request data sets or map products not listed below.
