An ordinance was adopted by the City Council on February 15, 1993, which amended the City Code by adding a new Article XVII - Winston-Salem Citizens' Police Review Board. |
| Purpose/Function |
The Citizens' Police Review Board serves as an advisory board to the City Manager and Public Safety Committee. The Board reviews appeals from citizens regarding unresolved complaints against Police Department employees and conducts appeal hearings which include receiving and evaluating testimony, and issuing findings of facts to the City Manager. |

The members are appointed by the City Council upon the recommendation of the Mayor. |
