President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, West Africa, will visit Winston-Salem on Saturday, Sept 24. President Sirleaf, who is in the United States for the United Nations’ General Assembly, will meet with representatives of the Liberian Organization of the Piedmont along with civic leaders; discuss Winston-Salem’s sister city relationship with Buchanan, Liberia; and visit the Unity Build project by Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, an interracial, multi-faith housing project.
President Sirleaf is scheduled to arrive in Winston-Salem late Friday evening and leave about mid-afternoon on Saturday. Jeremiah C. Sulunteh, the Liberian ambassador to the United States, will be traveling with President Sirleaf. Mayor Allen Joines will host a luncheon Saturday in President Sirleaf’s honor with local elected officials, university and college presidents and other community leaders at the Forsyth Country Club.
