Recreation & Parks - July 28, 2017
The fishing pier and boat ramp at Salem Lake will reopen Monday, July 31. Additionally, the main parking lot will reopen, but the parking lot at the Point for the Salem Lake trailhead off Salem Lake Road will close for construction of restrooms, a playground and parking lot improvements.
Fishing from the bank, which had been allowed while the pier was closed to the public, will no longer be permitted. The marina office will remain closed and boat rentals will not be available.
The Linville Road parking area remains closed for construction. Construction at it and the Point parking lot is expected to last through November.
The improvements at the Point are being financed with $4.5 million in recreation bonds voters approved in 2014. Construction of the new marina center at Salem Lake is nearing completion and officials hope that it will open by the end of August. For more information call CityLink 311.
