CityLink - March 29, 2018
As of April 2, city residents should report streetlight outages directly to Duke Energy instead of calling CityLink. Duke has an interactive webpage that allows residents to locate every streetlight in the city on a map. Clicking on the light with a problem pulls up an online report form. Citizens can also report streetlight outages by calling Duke Energy at 800-769-3766.
Citizens who report a streetlight outage through Duke’s online system receive an email from Duke confirming their report. They can then track the progress of the repair online.
As a convenience to citizens, CityLink will keep on its webpage the link to Duke Energy’s streetlight page through April 30, said Shantell Davis, the CityLink director.
"Duke Energy has always been responsible for maintaining streetlights," Davis said. "When citizens call us about a streetlight outage we forward it to Duke. With Duke's online reporting system we believe it will be easier for citizens to deal directly with them, without the city having to act as the middle-man."
From July 1, 2017, through March 1, 2018, CityLink received 1,225 calls about streetlights.
