The city of Winston-Salem will hold a public works career expo on Wednesday, June 12, to fill more than 80 vacancies for maintenance workers, vehicle operators and equipment operators. The career expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Education Building. Attendees should enter through Gate 5 on Deacon Boulevard.
Candidates for all positions should bring an ID and resume or work history so that they can complete an application on-site. Attendees seeking vehicle operator or maintenance worker positions should have a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Attendees seeking equipment operator positions should bring their commercial driver's license (CDL) or a CDL permit.
Equipment operator candidates will be asked to demonstrate their skills with equipment on-site. Equipment will include a dump truck with a trailer, a backhoe, a mini-excavator and a skid-steer.
Human Resources representatives will be available to explain the full range of city benefits and answer questions about the hiring process and working for the city.
