Class of 2015 TESTIMONIALS:
This was one of the best classes I took in 2015. It is a great way to get (more) involved with the city and be brought up to speed on what Winston-Salem is doing. I would take it every 3-5 years if allowed for the benefit of community and business. Thank you Sue and CWSU!” - Gray Bush

"Why does the city do this? Why doesn't the city do that?  How do I get involved and who do I contact?  These are all questions that drew me to the CWSU program, and I came away with so much more than I anticipated.  This program will give you a better understanding of our municipal decision making process; department operations; and active, as well as future, projects designed to make Winston-Salem a great city.  Along with this program come countless opportunities to volunteer and become more engaged in our community.  The CWSU program is a great asset to residents and provides an experience you will carry with you long after it is done." -Drew Blackwell

"I love Winston Salem and have always enjoyed living here but CWSU allowed for me to go from being an ordinary resident to an informed and involved community member. Each class allowed me to gain more insight into how the city operates and what we can do as citizens to improve and innovate together with the city government. This class is invaluable for anyone wanting to get involved with the city or just be a better informed community member." - Jessica Morphies

"Being part of CWSU 2015 was one of the most amazing experiences for me! Because of the training and guidance CWSU provided I will serve on the NC Mental Health Consumers' Organization Board as Vice President from 2016-2018! CWSU Rules!" -  Roger Hyman

"In attending the 2015 CWSU, I realized how much Winston Salem does for its communities. I enjoyed getting to meet the Mayor and Council members and in experiencing every department's daily activities it brought much insight that I was able to share not only with family and friends but also with the Hispanic communities. As well as participating in an assignment with my fellow class mates, my highlight of CWSU was my ride along with one of WS Police Officers. One has to go through the experience of a ride along, whether it is with the Police Dept. or Fire Dept. in order to appreciate what they do for their communities on a daily basis regardless of the fact that they place their lives in harm's way. I highly recommend CWSU to any citizen looking to learn how its city government operates."
