City Link, the city’s 24/7 citizen call center, now offers city residents the option of contacting City Link agents through a live-chat pop-up window when they are online.
The city home page displays a "Live Chat" link when agents are available for live chat. At other times, the link allows citizens to send a message. Citizens always have the option of calling City Link line at 727-8000 at any time of the day or night, seven days a week.
Clicking on the "Live Chat" link brings up a chat window. Enter your name, e-mail address and question, and click on "Request Chat." The system indicates how many requests for Live Chat are pending and when an agent is typing a response to your question. The experience is similar to online instant messaging, with new questions and answers added to the window through the course of the chat. The pop-up window also offers residents a drop-down list for rating the agent, said Addie Robbins, the City Link Director.
"In today’s fast-paced environment many people use the Internet to conduct personal business," Robbins said. "City Link is committed to making access to city services as seamless as possible. We're excited to have online chat as another option to serve the citizens and customers of Winston-Salem."
City Link gives Winston-Salem city residents a single point of contact to request a service, make a suggestion or report a problem without having to look up a telephone number for a particular department. City Link agents can be accessed by telephone, e-mail, or by live chat.
