Toneq'City Manager Lee Garrity today announced the promotion of Toneq’ McCullough to director of transportation. She will succeed Stan Polanis, who is retiring after more than 32 years with the city. McCullough will assume her new duties June 1. She will be the city’s first female director of transportation.

McCullough has worked for the city for 13 years. She currently is the city’s utilities capital projects engineer and previously managed the Utilities Construction and Maintenance Division. Prior to joining the city she worked for both the N.C. Department of Transportation and the Greensboro Department of Transportation.

“She has a good understanding of the local transportation issues, a very sharp and logical mind, and the drive to push transportation projects along,” Garrity said.
McCullough graduated from Clemson University in 1991 with a degree in civil engineering. She is a registered professional engineer.

As transportation director, McCullough will oversee a department with more than 120 employees who handle traffic operations, streets maintenance, parking operations, transit systems and transportation planning. Her annual salary will be $96,410.
