The Winston-Salem Fire Department is accepting applications for the Citizens’ Fire Academy, to be held Aug. 25 – Oct. 20.
Participants will learn about fire department operations and receive hands-on experience in fire and life safety, including an opportunity to ride along on emergency calls. Topics will include the organization and history of the Fire Department, first aid, fire prevention, fire extinguisher training and 911 communications.
The Citizens’ Fire Academy is free and is open to citizens 18 and older. Participants will be selected through an application process and should commit to attending all class meetings. Class size is limited.
