The Human Relations Commission is sponsoring an interfaith forum titled "I Have a Question About…Islam," to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, in the Public Meeting Room of the Stuart Municipal Building, 100 E. First Street, Winston-Salem.
The forum will be an opportunity for those unacquainted with the local Muslim community to meet practicing Muslims in our community and to learn about the Islamic faith and Muslim culture. The forum will address national and local myths and misconceptions relating to Islam. The forum will also include a question-and-answer session.
Panelists will be Mustafa Abdullah, the associate organizer for Communities Helping All Neighbors Gain Empowerment (CHANGE); Imam Khalid Griggs of the Community Mosque of Winston-Salem; and Hamdy Radwan, a professor of physical therapy at Winston-Salem State University and the outreach director for the Muslim American Society of Raleigh. Guy Blynn, a member of the Human Relations Commission, will be the moderator.
