A student from each public school in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, as well as from some private schools, will be honored Feb. 23 during the 32nd annual Human Relations Student Awards Banquet.
The Human Relations Commission partners with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools to hold the banquet, which honors students who exemplify positive human relations in their dealings with others on such issues as race, religion, and cultural differences.
The theme of this year’s banquet is “Serving it Forward.” The speaker at this year’s banquet will be Richard L. Watts, the principal of Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy and the 2012 Principal of the Year for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
Entertainment will be provided by a choir of First Assembly Christian School first graders and the West African Drumming Ensemble from Paisley IB Magnet School.
The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites hotel, 460 N. Cherry St. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Human Relations Department office in City Hall, 101 N. Main St., Suite 109. Tickets must be purchased before 5 p.m. on Feb. 17. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
