The Winston-Salem Youth Advisory Council is inviting high school students to a “Karaoke Night” fundraiser Friday evening, June 8, to raise money for its annual project.

The program will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at Winston Square Park, 310 N. Marshall St., Winston-Salem. Admission is $2 per person. Individuals who would like to sing are encouraged to donate $1 per song.

The Youth Expression Wall, created at the park last year by the Youth Advisory Council, will be open for painting during the fund-raiser. Students will be able to help paint a mural designed by Youth Advisory Council members.

As its annual project for the 2011-2012 school year, the council is putting together baskets filled with house-warming gifts for Habitat families. The money raised at the karaoke night will help fund the project.

The council has invited other youth councils in North Carolina to participate. The Winston-Salem Youth Advisory Council was chartered last month by the N.C. Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office and would like to use the fund-raiser to build relationships with other youth councils in the state.
