Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful has rescheduled Community Roots Day and the Great American Cleanup in Winston-Salem to avoid a conflict with the annual Earth Day Fair, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at Wake Forest University.
Community Roots Day will now be held April 25 and the Great American Cleanup in Winston-Salem on May 9.
George Stilphen, the executive director for Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful, said that it made sense to avoid a conflict with the Earth Day Fair. "They plan to have thousands of people attending their event and it would probably make it more difficult to recruit volunteers. Moving our dates gives us the opportunity to publicize our events even more and to recruit volunteers from a huge group of environmentally minded citizens."
