The organizers of Rock the Bock are looking for teen rock bands to compete for a $500 cash prize in the ROCK THIS! Battle of the Bands, presented by Forsyth Technical Community College.
The contest is open to any band whose members are in high school or middle school.
Competing bands will have 15 minutes to play up to three songs at Rock the Block with Chris Paul, the end-of summer street festival to be held Saturday, Sept. 18, in downtown Winston-Salem. Audience members will vote by text message.
Bands should have no more than six members and should play some form of rock music, be it modern rock, alternative rock, indie rock, country rock, or punk rock.
Competing bands will be organized into preliminary rounds that will play during the afternoon. The winners of the preliminary rounds will play in a final round at 9 p.m. to determine the winner.
Entering bands must submit three songs, a band photo, and parental consent forms for musicians 17 or younger.
Complete rules, forms and submission details are on the Rock the Block web site.
Entries can be mailed or hand-delivered and must be received by Aug. 30. For more information, send an e-mail to Jennifer John at email@example.com.
