All radio and television programming, including WSTV 13, will be interrupted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, for a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System. The test will last about 30 seconds.

This first-ever nationwide test will affect every radio, television, and cable television station in the United States.

Originally scheduled to last up to three minutes, the Federal Communications Commission revised the test after determining that 30 seconds is sufficient to “assess the reliability and effectiveness” of the Emergency Alert System.
