The Winston-Salem Sustainability Resource Center is soliciting city residents to participate in its Block by Block Residential Energy Efficiency Program.
Participants will receive a free house energy audit and such energy-efficiency improvements as weather-stripping, caulking, water-heater jackets and energy-efficient showerheads.
To participate, residents must have owned or rented for at least 12 months a single-family house that was built before 1960. Mobile homes, town houses, apartments and condominiums do not qualify. Participants must also be willing to provide their home energy bills for the 12 months before and after the improvements. The program is free for households with an annual income of less than $40,000. Households with high annual incomes share the cost.
