The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Office of Emergency Management is holding the “Are You Prepared” Zombie 5k Run, Walk, Shuffle on Saturday, April 27, to call attention to Public Safety/Community Preparedness Day and support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.

Entrants can choose to be a “zombie” or a “survivor” and run, walk, shuffle or slouch in the one-mile or 5k run/walk. (Zombie costumes encouraged, but not required.) This family-oriented event is a fun and informative way to highlight an “all-hazards” approach to emergency preparedness with emergency services displays, response vehicles, activities, and safety and preparedness booths.

The Zombie 5k Run, Walk, Shuffle will be held at Wake Forest University. Registration opens at 11 a.m. in Parking Lot X.

The one mile walk/run will start at noon. The entry fee is $15 plus three canned goods.

The 5k will start at 12:15 p.m. The entry fee is $25 plus three canned goods.

Teams of five or more may register for $20 per person.

Entrants can register in advance at http://ultimateracemanagement.com through April 25. To receive a discount code for team entries, contact bill@ultimateracemanagement.com.

The public is welcome to visit the displays without entering either event by making a donation of canned goods.

Net proceeds and canned goods will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. For more information and a registration link visit www.ReadyForsyth.org.
